The Pacers finally caught a break when Andrew Nembhard nailed a 31-foot three-pointer as the shot clock expired to put the Pacers up 109-106 over the Knicks with 17 seconds left. Indiana ended up with a 111-106 win against banged-up New York, which must be worrying that Nembhard’s shot could turn the series around. If Nembard missed that incredible shot, the Knicks could have gone up 3-0 and taken it easy in Game 4 — with a close-out game in Madison Square Garden coming after that. Now it’s Indiana with confidence, and luck, and New York needing a breather.
In today’s newsletter, Jason is looking for Boston to repeat its first-round formula and take Game 3 after an uninspired Game 2 loss, and is tracking offense to win out in Dallas. In baseball, Malcolm is covering the major league debut of Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes. And in soccer, Sam is following a couple Inter Miami trends.
