Up 20 points early in the third quarter, the Nuggets had another meltdown on offense, scoring just 14 points in the quarter as the Timberwolves stormed back on their way to winning Game 7 in Denver. That series-defining quarter was the third time over a stretch of seven quarters that the Nuggets scored 14 points or less as they watched a 3-2 series lead evaporate.
"I think they're built to beat us," MVP Nikola Jokic said. "Just look at their roster. They have basically two All-Stars, two probably first-team defensive players.” He also called them a ”team that they can do literally everything." Minnesota is now favored over Dallas to head to the NBA Finals.
The NBA finally has a day off, so in today’s newsletter Craig is taking the lead with some baseball. He’s looking for the Guardians to take advantage of the slumping Mets and Pablo Lopez to make a long start for the Twins. We’re also debuting our first notebook, which will give you stats, trends, and research about a game, series, or sport. It’s just one more way we’re keeping you informed and giving you data each day on as many sports as possible. We’re starting off with an NHL notebook to get you up to speed on a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight.
