NFL Week 5 Game-by-Game Rundown
Three games this week should give us a better idea of how good a few teams actually are: Can the 3-1 Texans stay with the 3-1 Bills? Are the 2-2 Cowboys good or mediocre, and are the 3-1 Steelers for real? And can the 4-0 Chiefs keep winning with all of their injuries and will the 2-2 Saints keep scoring at will? Here are some other stats to keep in mind this week:
When you look at the numbers, the Texans might be the luckiest team so far while the Bengals look like the unluckiest. Houston is 17th in points per game (19.8), 21st in turnover differential (-1) and last in penalties (40), but is 3-1. Cincinnati is 9th in points (25.5), has a 0 turnover margin and is 5th in penalties (20), but is 0-3 in close games.
Does the Chiefs 4-0 record in close games make them lucky or good?
The Commanders, starting rookie QB Jayden Daniels, have the 3rd-highest scoring offense (30.2) in the NFL.
Miami is historically bad, as they have yet to lead while on offense this season — only three other teams have done that in the past 20 years. The Dolphins are last in the NFL in points per game (11.2) and point differential (-58), and are 30th in penalties. They play the 2nd-lowest scoring team in the league this weekend, the Patriots, who manage just 13.0 points per game.
Joe Burrow is expected to have the best passing day of the weekend, according to NFL Pro Stats, with 261.1 yards in the air.
